Congratulations to all of our finalists!

TechPoint would like to congratulate you on being a finalist for a Mira Award. The Mira Awards truly celebrate the best of the best in the tech sector, and we celebrate your achievement of becoming a finalist!

The next step of the Mira Awards process is the in-person interviews with the independent judging panel.  Please take note of the following details related to your interview:

WHEN: Thursday, February 21st

You will be contacted by 5 p.m. on February 15th to be scheduled for your Mira Awards finalist interview.

All interviews will be held on the 21st of February.  We apologize but there are not exceptions to this date.  You will be scheduled for a 30-minute time frame.  This time frame will include a 20 minute presentation window and a 10 minute Question and Answer session with the judges. This time window does not allow for extension, therefore please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time and be prepared to exit the interview process 30 minutes from your scheduled start time.

If you have not had direct communication with an individual from the TechPoint team by 5:00 PM on Friday afternoon regarding your scheduled time, please contact annie@techpoint.com.

WHERE:  Barnes and Thornburg, 11 S. Meridian St.

PARKING: There are numerous parking garages, parking lots and street parking near Barnes & Thornburg at 11 S. Meridian St.  The most affordable option is likely the Circle Centre Parking Garage off of Washington St. just west of Meridian St. on the south side of the street.

INTERVIEW ROOM: Please report to the security desk on the first floor.  Communicate that you are in attendance for the Mira Awards Judging and the security guard will send you to the appropriate floor.  When you arrive at Barnes & Thornburg, please check in at the Mira Awards interview registration desk and you will be informed of your interview room.

INTERVIEW DETAILS: Your Mira Awards Finalist presentation is your opportunity to make your case face-to-face with the judging panel.  Use your time to convince the judges that you are the most deserving finalist to be selected as the winner in your category.  We strongly suggest that you focus your presentation on factual information and results-based, data-supported outcomes.

If you plan to utilize a projector for your interview process, please communicate this during your scheduling call.  Please note that you will be responsible for using your own laptop or presentation device and will need to bring any and all cables and adapters needed for the provided projector.  Also, please let us know if you plan to use any other visual aids outside of a projector.

Again, congratulations on being selected as a finalist for the Mira Awards.  You have already achieved a great honor and we wish you all the best in the interview process.

Nomination Process FAQ

  1. May I enter myself or my own company for an award?
Yes. In fact, most entries are from those who self nominate.
  1. How much does it cost to enter the Mira Awards?
Nothing. It is free to nominate.

  2. Do I have to be a member of TechPoint to compete?
No. Actually, TechPoint stopped being a "membership" organization many years ago. There are no dues or fees of any kind to be an active TechPoint community member. While some marquee events, such as the Mira Awards Gala and Innovation Summit require a ticket purchase to attend, TechPoint produces more than 40 other industry events throughout the year that are free and most are open to the public.

  3. What is the deadline for entering the 2013 Mira Awards?
Entries must be received BEFORE 5:01 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, January 25, 2013.
The deadline has been extended to next Wednesday, January 30th at 5 p.m. EST.
  4. Can I enter multiple award categories or am I limited to only one category?
You may enter in any category for which you qualify, but we encourage you to only enter in areas where you have demonstrated true excellence and innovation. It would not be appropriate to enter the same project in two different categories, for example, nor should you enter more than one company award category – i.e. Tech Startup of the Year AND Emerging Tech Company of the Year. It may be appropriate to enter a project for an excellence and innovation award as well as your company for an “of the Year” category.

  5. Can I get an extension?
If TechPoint determines that an extension is necessary, an announcement will be made publicly and a new deadline will be established. It is to everyone’s advantage that the January 25th nominations deadline be met.

  6. When are the Finalist Interviews?
Thursday, February 21, 2013 and Friday, February 22, 2013 are the dates announced for the Finalist Interview with the judging panels. Finalists will be announced on February 12, 2013, and finalists will be contacted directly to arrange their finalist interviews.

  7. What if I can’t make it to the Finalist Interview?
The Finalist Interview is a critical part of the Mira Awards process and you will not be permitted to advance without attending your interview. Once arranged and the schedule announced, it is nearly impossible to move, change or reschedule an interview.

  8. When are the Mira Awards finalists announced?
The finalists for each category will be announced on Tuesday, February 12, 2013.

  9. How much do the tickets cost to the Mira Awards Gala and Awards Ceremony?
The early-bird ticket price for the Mira Awards Gala is $175 per ticket until March 22, 2013. After March 22, the ticket price goes up to $200 each.
$99 “Under 30” tickets are available for professionals 30 years old and younger.
$75 Student tickets are available for current students with valid ID.

  10. What is the “Under 30” Ticket and why did TechPoint create it?
TechPoint’s new “Under 30” Mira Awards Gala ticket is a $99 individual ticket available to tech and business professionals 30 years old and younger. It is our sincere desire as well as our mission and mandate to bridge the gaps between the established industry and the burgeoning startup sector. The $99 “Under 30” ticket is intended to draw the next generation of tech leaders into the TechPoint community and introduce them to the myriad of powerful networking, educational, industry and career advancement opportunities available through TechPoint.

  11. Are discounts available for rooms at the JW Marriott?
Yes. Room discounts for Mira awards Gala ticket holders are available. Discount rates will be announced in early 2013.

  12. Do I really have to wear a tuxedo or a gown?
The dress code for the Mira Awards Gala is designated as Black Tie and Cocktail Attire, but no ticket-holder will be turned away and some people choose to stick with suit-and-tie business attire instead of formal wear.

  13. Are children welcome at the Mira Awards Gala?
Because alcohol is served, we do not recommend bringing children to this event. Young adults accompanying their parents may be appropriate, but it is extremely rare – usually only in the case of an award winner’s family invited on her or his behalf to observe the awards ceremony. Please use your best judgment for what is appropriate for you and your family.
