David Wong Attorney Barnes & Thornburg David A. W. Wong is an attorney with Barnes & Thornburg LLP . Mr. Wong’s practice focuses on Internet law, technology, media, intellectual property counseling, risk management, prosecution, policing, and enforcement. He regularly advises clients on commercial and intellectual property matters, such as trademark, copyright, defamation, trade dress, advertising, right of publicity, trade secret, and unfair competition issues.
Mr. Wong advises a range of clients from start-ups to multinational corporations, including Internet businesses and online service providers, software developers, computer hardware and device manufacturers, toy manufacturers, media and publishing companies, automotive companies, clothing retailers, and financial institutions.
Mr. Wong represents clients such as Automattic, Inc. (WordPress); Bitly, Inc.; Digg, Inc.; Etsy, Inc.; Flock, Inc.; OpenTable, Inc.; Revision3 Corporation; TokBox, Inc.; Tumblr, Inc., and Tweetdeck, Inc in Internet-related matters. He has expertise in matters relating to international Internet brand protection and licensing; UDRP, ACPA, and foreign domain name proceedings; domain name acquisition and protection; DMCA and copyright enforcement; online service agreements and terms of service; online privacy, security, defamation, technology and content licensing matters; online marketing and advertising issues; and addressing Internet fraud, diversion, phishing, hacking, and online theft.
His practice includes prosecution of trademark registrations and enforcement of trademark rights in the U.S. and in foreign jurisdictions, drafting and negotiating of intellectual property-related licenses and other contracts. Mr. Wong also has significant experience handling litigious matters involving trademark infringement, copyright infringement, fraud, right of publicity, privacy and defamation issues, trade secrets, domain names, and other Internet-related disputes.
Mr. Wong's practice also includes virtually all aspects of copyright law, including copyright eligibility, registration, ownership issues, licensing, and addressing copyright infringement. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Wong served as the Senior Copyright Analyst at the Copyright Management Center. His duties included providing guidance with respect to the relationship between copyright law and the research, teaching, and overall mission of the University community through workshops, seminars, and writings.
Mr. Wong graduated cum laude from Indiana University School of Law–Indianapolis. He was the recipient of the Phi Alpha Delta Hamill Award. Mr. Wong graduated cum laude from Indiana State University with a B.A. in music. He was the recipient of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society Award.
Mr. Wong is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

Mary Innis Partner Barnes & Thornburg
Mary E. Innis is a partner in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where she is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department and chair of the firm's Advertising & Marketing Practices Group. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Ms. Innis practiced with Loeb & Loeb LLP in Chicago.
Ms. Innis focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation involving trademark, copyright, unfair competition, advertising and promotions and rights of publicity and privacy law. She has litigated complex disputes throughout the country and is a member of numerous federal district and appeals courts.
Ms. Innis also has significant experience in counseling clients and negotiating and drafting trademark and copyright licenses and related agreements, releases, Internet linking agreements, co-branding agreements, strategic marketing alliances and transactions for high-profile clients. She has substantial experience in virtually all aspects of the production and execution of advertising agreements, marketing contracts and promotion, including sweepstakes review, sponsorship agreements, talent agreements, music licenses, promotion fulfillment and creative service agency agreements.
Ms. Innis received her B.A. cum laude from Augustana College in 1984. She earned her J.D. in 1987 from Boston University School of Law.
Ms. Innis is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Bar Association; Chicago Bar Association; Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago; International Trademark Association; Promotional Marketing Association; Chicago Advertising Federation; and Lawyers for the Creative Arts.
She is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and before the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Northern Districts of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.
