Salesforce Marketing Cloud COO Glenda Akers and Kronos VP, Global Professional Services Kristina Lengyel join board of directors

TechPoint has announced new leadership for its board of directors. Scott McCorkle, former chief executive officer of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, will become board chair replacing Kelly Pfledderer, founder and former CEO of Apparatus. Glenda Akers, chief operating officer for Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Kristina Lengyel, vice president, Global Professional Services for Kronos Incorporated, will also join the board.

Scott McCorkle was honored in 2016 with the Trailblazer Award, which recognizes visionaries whose contributions have had lasting and significant impact on our technology ecosystem and our state. McCorkle served as president of technology and strategy for ExactTarget prior to the company’s acquisition by Salesforce, and took over the Salesforce Marketing Cloud CEO role in May 2014. Salesforce, the Customer Success Platform and world’s #1 CRM, empowers companies to connect with their customers in a whole new way.

Prior to his roles at Salesforce, McCorkle was the co-founder and president of Mezzia, Inc., a planning and budgeting software company that was acquired by VFA, Inc. in 2006, and a vice president of the CRM Product Group at IBM. He was also a vice president at Software Artistry where he worked with fellow Trailblazer in Technology award recipients Don Brown, Bill Godfrey, Robert Compton and Scott Webber; and before that he was a senior analyst for Eli Lilly and Company.

McCorkle was born and raised in Rush County, Ind. in the small town of Milroy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Ball State University and an MBA from Indiana University.

Glenda Akers currently serves as COO of Salesforce Marketing Cloud in Indianapolis. Glenda has over 30 years of experience in product development with a focus on mobility, security and cloud solutions and has managed product organizations in both startups and Fortune 500 corporations (MCI, Sybase, SAP).

Glenda has been active in Austin’s startup community as a product development executive at MetaSolv (IPO), SoloMio (acquired) and Macheen (acquired). She has maintained a customer centric approach to developing enterprise solutions with a focus on performance, scale and availability. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from the University of Texas. Glenda has recently relocated to Indianapolis from Breckenridge, CO. She is active in promoting, fundraising and mentoring women in the technology field such as STEM. Outside of work, Glenda enjoys the outdoors, golfing, hiking and swimming.

Kristina Lengyel currently serves as vice president, Global Professional Services at Kronos Incorporated, the $1.2 billion global leader of workforce management and human capital management solutions Kristina is responsible for driving the strategy to deliver exceptional services that optimize time-to-value for the growing Kronos customer base, while continuing to foster high customer satisfaction and loyalty worldwide. She has been a key driver of Kronos’ accelerated time-to-value deployment supporting traditional on-premise workforce management customers through cloud transformation while managing a staff of 1,200+ professionals globally.

Kristina has been with Kronos since August 2010 and, during her first three years, was vice president of engineering responsible for managing a global engineering organization. Prior to joining Kronos, Lengyel was the senior vice president of global technical services at Open Solutions and led on-shore and off-shore technical and operations professionals focused on product quality in support of the organization’s audacious growth plan. She held several key executive roles at Concerto (now Aspect) Software, the world’s largest company solely focused on the contact center industry. Kristina holds a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University, and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. She was born and raised in Hungary and her remarkable experiences as a woman in STEM — including her inspiring story as a first-generation immigrant, refugee, and self-proclaimed ‘successful runaway’ – was chronicled by the Huffington Post’s Women in Business Q&A series.

Shelly Towns is continuing her role on the TechPoint board through her new position as Executive Vice President of Marketing at OurHealth. Towns was formerly SVP of Product at Angie’s List.
